| Kitchen/Family Room/Porch Remodel Minnehaha Parkway, Minneapolis Challenge: The existing kitchen in this stately older home was a crime: a poorly planned and executed remodel from the 1980’s that was obviously dated and did not flow with the house. The existing powder room cut the living space into two smaller, awkward spaces. Goal: Create livable, useable spaces with modern amenities and architectural detailing and craftsmanship appropriate to the timelessness and elegance of the house. Solution: Working from a plan by Bill Lewis of Lewis Design Studios, Christo and his team relocated the powder room to an existing closet on the same level. This opened up the space between the kitchen for an eat-in portion and a three-season porch that Christo and his team refashioned into a comfortable but refined family room. The Christo team built an entirely new kitchen with custom cabinets, granite counter tops, limestone floors and backsplashes, and state-of-the-art appliances. And wherever appropriate, new wood floors to match the existing ones. Custom-crafted architectural details and touches were added throughout, so this section of the house now melds seamlessly with the dignity of the rest. |
